Pic of the Day: My Valentine

O.k. I don't want anyone to be completely offended but me and David as a rule do not celebrate Valentine's Day. It's a long story and I really don't want to drag you through it so just know we are not unfeeling , horrible people. We do celebrate love though. David really is the great love of my life. We love each other every day through the good times and bad. He is my Valentine every day we wake up. He was my best friend when I was 15, wait let's go back.... I have known David since I was 2 years old. My parents went to a church and that is how we met. We have just always been. We have not always been close but I remember almost every moment that I spent with him as a child. He is in some of my best and most embarrassing memories. You know the ones that you hit your head in the shower about to this day . Sometimes he caused the embarrassment, but he never meant me harm. We became friends my freshman year of high school, one of the best years of my life. All of us in our tiny little class laughed a lot that year and just got along. It was so awesome. It doesn't always happen that way. Anyway, David and I got to be good friends. He was sweet and charming in a nerdy way. He made me laugh. Which is huge to me. Shortly after my freshman year ended I learned we were moving to the desolate tundra of Minnesota. It devastated me but as I always do I adapted to it and grew to view it as an adventure full of new possibilities. Little did I know I would freeze for the next three years, but I still made wonderful friends that I still have to this day.
Before I left for Minnesota, David and all my best friends took me out for one last hurrah in Texas. We watched movies and looked at the stars and laughed a lot.
David dropped everyone off before he took me home. As we stood on my front porch he took my hands in his and looked into my eyes. He said," Jodi, I normally don't tell people that I will pray for them but I promise that I will pray for you everyday." When I moved, I had other boyfriends and forgot about that promise that he made me but he did not. He would call me every two weeks without fail and he prayed for me every day. SO from the time I was fifteen years old my husband has prayed for me everyday. Even before he knew that he would be mine and I would be his. That means that my husband, David, has been praying for me for 6570 days give or take a few or easier 18 years. He has been faithful, Godly, loving, romantic, funny, encouraging and my best friend for 18 years. That is why he is my Valentine. I love you David!

  2. I love hearing people's stories. Andy and I don't really celebrate Valentine's day, except that we have fun with our kids instead. Celebrating the love of our family, I guess.
